Student Only Q&A Session with Former U.S. Atty General Eric Holder *SIGN-UP*
As you know, the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and the National Civil Rights Museum will present MLK50: Where Do We Go From Here?, a two-day symposium, on April 2-3, 2018, to mark the 50th anniversary of the tragic assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis. During this two-day event, we will convene scholars, historians and thought leaders from across the country to present on the state of civil and human rights issues and racial and economic equity fifty years after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s death. The luncheon will also feature keynote speaker, the Honorable Eric Holder, the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and the first African-American to serve in that role.
As part of his visit to Memphis, Mr. Holder has agreed to join us in our Historic Courtroom for a students-only, exclusive Q&A session on Monday, April 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This is a rare opportunity for our students to interact with a former U.S. Attorney General who continues to be at the forefront of the debate on legal issues that confront our nation.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide the more intimate setting Mr. Holder has requested while at the same time opening the event to our entire student body. Accordingly, we have elected to ask students who would like to be included in the Q&A session to so indicate by completing this form linked here by Friday, March 23rd at 5 pm. We will select the students who will participate in the Q&A session at random and notify all students of the results next week.
We should be able to invite more than 100 students to the event, so I hope you will take this opportunity to indicate your interest in attending.
Thank you.
