Red Mass

Catholic lawyers, judges, and law students, are invited to attend the annual Red Mass hosted by the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Guild, scheduled this year for Friday, September 26, 12:00 noon, at St. Peter Church downtown. Bishop Steib will preside, and the homilist is Fr. Stephen Kenny, pastor of St Philip the Apostle Church, Somerville. The annual Red Mass dates to medieval England and invokes the blessing of the Holy Spirit on the legal profession at the beginning of the courts’ terms. Six of nine Supreme Court justices attended the Red Mass in Washington last Fall.
