Below are services to be offered:
-Volunteer attorneys will be presenting court cost waivers on behalf of registrants. 7 out of 8 judges for General Sessions-Criminal Court will be presiding. This is a BIG deal because most folks owe court costs, which impact their driver’s license and ability to get expungements. Students could also assist in this area. We had students run point on the indigency docket at the last clinic.
-Shelby County Child Support Services will be reviewing cases for modification purposes, program assistance, and driver’s license holds.
-Expungement service for General Sessions cases. Expungement research will be done by Clerk’s Office. Volunteers will review file with client and make sure they sign necessary documents/orders.
-Shelby County rental assistance program representatives will be on-site to accept applications
-Driver’s License reinstatement support services / Drive While You Pay programs will be on-site for assistance
-Manhood University is offering $2,500 for driver’s license reinstatement for any registrant who completes program
