EarthRights International is currently hiring for two Bertha Justice Legal Fellows, a two-year paid position beginning in September, 2022, and for Legal Interns for summer 2022. EarthRights is a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization that combines the power of law and the power of people in defense of human rights and the environment.
Bertha Justice Legal Fellow – This paid fellowship is supported by the generosity of the Bertha Foundation, whose “Be Just” initiative is intended to “train the next generation of social justice and movement lawyers by funding two-year Fellowships at the best public interest law centers around the world, where emerging lawyers receive practical training from renowned professionals.” The fellowship is geared towards recent U.S. law school graduates and LLM degree holders hoping to practice in the United States. Deadline for applications is December 15, 2021.
Legal Intern (Summer, 2022) – EarthRight also is accepting applications for interns for Summer 2022. The internships are a full-time 10-week commitment. Applications will be reviewed in two rounds, with the first round due on October 15, 2021 and the second round due on January 31, 2022. The first round is primarily intended for 2Ls, while the second round is primarily intended for 1Ls, though 2Ls may also apply. EarthRights legal interns will have the opportunity to participate in various projects associated with our cases, including legal research and writing and assistance in all phases of litigation, as well as other legal work including development of new cases, monitoring and exploring developments in international human rights and environmental law, and researching and utilizing other mechanisms of corporate accountability.
