Now that you have completed the Graduation Checklist, and will soon receive feedback from Ms. Edwards, have you applied to graduate?

Yes? Great!

No? Detailed instructions are below. Please put the deadline on your calendar!

NOTE: If you are completing the JD/MBA joint degree, be sure to also apply to graduate for the MBA program.

Step 2: Submit your Application to Graduate

DEADLINE: January 25, 2019

Submit your application by following these steps:

  1. Visit your MyMemphis portal.
  2. Click on the MyDegree tab and then locate the Commencement channel (box) to access.
  3. Review the Prerequisites to Graduate, then click on Apply to Graduate.
  4. Select a term. Choose the most recent term or the term in which you were last enrolled.

Step Three: Choose a diploma name, and enter diploma address and gown information.*

You will use MyMemphis portal for this step. This step is required by all graduating students whether attending the commencement ceremony or not.

*Things to know about this step…

  1. The system will give you allowable options to choose. For instance, Johnny B. Good, Johnny Good, or Johnny Be Good. If the complete spelling of your middle is not offered as an option, and you want your full name, an official name change will be necessary. The same goes for suffixes, such as Jr., Sr. or III.  Stop by the Registrar’s office [Room 262] for the proper paperwork. You will need to supply a government-issued ID. If you have questions about this, please let me know.
  2. Please be sure to list an address that is capable of receiving a 10×16 envelope.  Also, when choosing a mailing address, consider that honors are awarded based on a percentage system rather than GPA (Academic Regulation 13.4), causing a delay in mailing December and May graduates’ diplomas until late September. The entire graduating class for your academic year must complete all requirements before ranking and honors distinctions can be made. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.

Step Four: During the spring semester, you may receive an email from the Commencement Office referring to a “Final Graduation form.” YOUR CAN DISREGARD THIS EMAIL. IT ONLY APPLIES TO DECEMBER AND AUGUST GRADUATES.
