Cecil C. Climate & Inclusion Workshop – Tomorrow at 11:45am in Wade Auditorium!

On tomorrow, Thursday, October 25, 2018, the Diversity Office will host its second Cecil C. Climate and Inclusion Workshop in Wade Auditorium.   Non-pizza lunch will be provided beginning at 11:45 am, and the workshop will begin promptly at 11:55.  This workshop is open to all interested students, faculty, and staff.    (Students: if you have a class extending to 11:45 or 11:50, please check with your professor as many are allowing students to attend the workshop without penalty and/or will begin class late/early for the workshop).  Thanks again to professors for your support as we explore these important topics!

The second in our series of Climate and Inclusion workshops, What is Privilege & Do I Have it?, will explore the topics of social privilege, power, and how identity is informed by personal experiences of power and privilege. The workshop will also encourage participants to discuss how different kinds of privilege might influence interpersonal relationships, legal culture, and policy, as well as offer insight for exercising privilege responsibly.   Workshop attendees should know that they will NOT be lectured on what to believe—this workshop is intended to help participants better understand and address difficult issues raised by privilege and power distribution.
