3Ls: Apply for Judge McMullen Clerkship (Memphis) by Monday September 30

The Honorable Camille McMullen of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals (Memphis) is seeking applicants for an open clerkship position that will begin in August 2025 and continue through July 2026.

Potential applicants might be interested in knowing that Judge McMullen’s previous law clerks have moved on to become In-House Counsel, Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Assistant Attorneys General, Assistant District Attorneys, and of course have gone on to practice both civil and criminal law at prestigious firms.  Having one or two years of experience as a law clerk, with all the research, analytical thinking, and writing that it entails, opens the door to even more opportunities than a law student would have immediately upon graduation.

Here are the requirements for the clerkship:

This is a one-year clerkship with Judge Camille R. McMullen, Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, in Memphis, Tennessee

The clerkship begins approximately August 1, 2025, and continues through July 31, 2026.

Candidates must be current 3Ls or a recent graduates from the University of Memphis School of Law

Strongly prefer candidates who are top 10% of class, who are a member of the University of Memphis Law Review or other law journal, and who have received top marks in all Legal Research and Writing Courses [from the CSO: If you do not have the preferred GPA but are otherwise qualified, feel free to apply. Acknowledge this in your cover letter and go on to explain why you are still a good candidate.]
