VITA is looking for Students to be Clients or Volunteers
Students from Memphis Law conduct a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program under the supervision of Professor Kratzke. The VITA program provides free current year income tax preparation assistance for low-income taxpayers in Shelby County. From February until early April, the VITA program will operate in the Student Lounge on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Qualifying students (income under $62k) can receive assistance in preparing their taxes through VITA. Student volunteers can get pro bono hours, but those who assist in tax preparation must go through training and pass an online test. For more information on the program, see https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Free-Tax-Return-Preparation-for-You-by-Volunteers
