Overview
The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) is committed to educating the next generation of attorneys to advance a free society rooted in individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise, and constitutional originalism.
If you’re eager to do your part to secure, preserve, and protect these fundamental principles, we welcome you to apply to the 2020 TFAS Summer Law Fellowship in Washington, D.C. The fellowship is an intensive 9-week legal internship and academic program with credit provided by George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. The program also includes professional development and networking opportunities, as well as guest lectures and site briefings.
TFAS Summer Law Fellowship Dates:
May 21, 2020 – July 24, 2020
Application Deadline: February 5, 2020
Admission Notification:
February 18, 2020
Program Components Include:
Placement in a full-time legal internship. Sites include:
- Private and public interest law firms
- Nonprofit organizations
- Legal departments of trade associations, corporations and government agencies
Originalism Course and Economics Seminar
- Two-credit Scalia Law course exploring the theory and practice of originalism as a method of constitutional interpretation and a supplemental seminar on the “Economic Way of Thinking” providing a unique perspective on the importance of limited government and free enterprise in shaping today’s law and policy.
Admissions and Selection Criteria
Competitive candidates should have a strong academic record and demonstrated interest in the principles of originalism, limited government, and free enterprise, and a commitment to honorable leadership and the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.
Twenty-five Fellowships will be awarded for the 2020 TFAS Summer Law Fellowship program. Selected fellows will receive a full scholarship covering Scalia Law tuition, housing and program fees.

- Official law school transcript
- Letter of recommendation
