THE BUTLER SNOW DIVERSITY/INCLUSIVITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
At Butler Snow, we believe diversity and inclusivity are key drivers of innovation and creativity. This dedication extends beyond our firm through our active participation in and sponsorship of diverse organizations and events domestically and internationally. We promote outreach through professional associations, mentoring, recruiting, sponsorships and networking.
In addition, Butler Snow is pleased to offer a Diversity/Inclusivity Scholarship Fund. Scholarship details are below:
• Scholarships and Dollar Amount: The Firm will award up to 4 Butler Snow Diversity/Inclusivity Scholarships to incoming 1L’s annually. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a paid 1L summer associate position, plus a $2,500 scholarship to be distributed in August following their clerkship. These scholarships are intended to allow the students to defray the cost of their continuing legal education.
o If a candidate accepts an offer to return and clerk with Butler Snow after their 2L year, the candidate would receive an additional $1,500 scholarship to be distributed in August following that 2L clerkship.
• Eligibility: A scholarship applicant must be diverse and have excellent undergraduate and law school academic performance, as well as leadership ability, personal and professional accomplishments, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity. Additional qualifications to be eligible include: (1) be a full-time law student in the first-year of classes at an accredited law school; (2) apply and receive an offer to join Butler Snow’s summer associate program (3) indicate a potential interest in practicing with Butler Snow after graduation.
• Application Process: A completed application and a personal statement (500 words or less) should be completed to obtain the scholarship.
• Selection Process: Recipients will be selected based on a myriad of factors, including: (1) undergraduate and law school academic performance; (2) demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and contributing to the firm’s diversity goals; (3) personal achievement; (4) leadership ability; (5) strong oral and written skills; (6) community service; (7) commitment to succeed as a lawyer; and (7) the personal statement.
