Street Law Advocacy Camp 2020

Street Law is a student organization at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. At its core, Street Law is a teaching program wherein law students are sent into community schools to teach high school and middle school students  lessons on the law. Each year street law hosts an Advocacy Camp focused on different issues affecting youth in our community. This year our goal is to change the path of our youth, by directing them away from the school to prison pipeline and towards a path of advocacy. We will have a range of speakers and activities to engage students in the law and teach them how to become advocates for themselves and their communities.

Students will have an opportunity to learn about and discuss a real issue within their current school system. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to gain knowledge from not only legal professionals and students but also their peers.  This is not only an opportunity to learn but it is an opportunity to gather the necessary tools for change and meet new allies!

We are still in need of participants and volunteers. Volunteers may email or sign up via Twen. Any youth or youth organizations that are interested in attending should contact street law at Memphisstreetlaw@gmail.com, and provide the signed permission slip that is attached above. We are looking forward to a Great event this year!
