Sign Up for SELSC Virtual Job Fair by Thursday April 10
SELSC is a recruiting event connecting legal employers nationwide with candidates from law schools in the Southeastern Law School Consortium. Formerly known as SEMJF, SELSC: Progress in the Profession is an established, well-run annual event with a successful track record extending back more than 30 years. All students, including graduating 3Ls, may participate. Employers may post Summer 2026 and/or Postgraduate positions (beginning in 2025 or 2026).
Virtual interviews will be conducted on Thursday, June 12, and Friday, June 13, between 10 am and 6 pm Eastern time. Interview candidates must keep both days of the Program free for interviews, which will be scheduled for them; individual scheduling requests cannot be accommodated.
Position postings will be available to registered candidates on May 2. Some employers will hold virtual information sessions between May 2 and when the application period begins on May 12. A list of employers who participated last year can be found here: https://selscon.org/2024-employers-1
Employers are:
o actively seeking candidates with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences
o likely to conduct a more holistic, less grades-focused review of candidates
o located all over the country (details on SELSCon.org)
o a range of practice settings (mostly firms, but also government and public interest)
Candidates may apply to a maximum of 20 interviewing employers, and an unlimited number of “resume collect” employers (who plan to contact candidates directly rather than interview at the Program).
A resume and a Candidate Statement are required for every application. Individual employers may require a cover letter, a writing sample, and/or a transcript. Additional documents may be required in connection with an interview.
The prompt for your Candidate Statement: Discuss your academic, professional and life experiences, focusing on your ability to persevere, overcome challenges, and contribute to the legal profession. A single page, 250 – 275 word, Candidate Statement is recommended.
The application period for registered students will be from May 12 through May 18.
HOW TO REGISTER: To register for the SELSC Virtual Job Fair, please submit your resume via your law school’s Symplicity OCI, “SELSC 2025” by Thursday April 10. If you have any questions, please contact your Career Services at lawcareerservices@memphis.edu.
