Scholarship Opportunities Now Available for Current Law Students
The Honors and Awards Committee seeks applications for the following returning law student scholarships. If you feel you qualify, please send a statement addressing your interest and qualifications along with your résumé to lawadmissions@memphis.edu no later than Friday, June 7, 2024. Please list which scholarship(s) you are applying for in the subject line of your email.
Nahon Saharovich & Trotz (NST) – This scholarship will be awarded to a third-year student with a demonstrated interest in or a desire to advocate for personal injury victims. Recipients must be in the top third of their class and/or be a member of the University of Memphis Law Review.
Kathryn Hookanson – This scholarship will be awarded to a law student with financial need, who is a non-traditional student and demonstrates a commitment to serving the greater Memphis area.
John C. Dice Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a rising second- or third-year student who is a US military veteran with an interest in Criminal Defense and an intent to practice law, in whole or in part, in the area of Criminal Defense upon graduation.
Steve and Beverly McDaniel Endowed Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a rising 3L who has taken or agrees to enroll as a 3L in either the Estate Planning course or the Trust Law course.
Tillie Blen Alperin Memorial Law Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a returning student who has a 3.0 cumulative law grade point average, financial need, and strong character and a demonstrated commitment to the legal profession.
Bank Tennessee John S. Wilder Law School Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a third-year law school student who in the spirit of John S. Wilder, has a demonstrated commitment to public service and to enhancing the common good, is a resident of the State of Tennessee, and is a Section Editor for the Law Review at the University of Memphis.
Evans & Petree law Firm Scholarship in Honor of Percy Harvey, Esq. – This scholarship will be awarded to a returning law school student who exemplifies the character and principles of Percy Harvey. Mr. Percy Harvey was a Harvard Law School graduate and Memphis native who joined the Evans and Petree firm in 1975 and he specialized in the areas of real estate, corporate transactions, healthcare and municipal finance.
Roger A. Stone Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to a returning law student who possesses traits of competence, empathy, and self-motivation.
