You’ve completed your Graduation Checklist, good job!

You’ve registered for your spring 2019 classes, good job! But…

There are still steps to go before you are set to graduate. Complete the following steps. All steps must be completed! If you have questions, contact Law Registrar, Cheryl Edwards.

1. Submit your Application to Graduate

DEADLINE: January 25, 2019. This is a hard deadline, so do not miss it! Tell your friends.

You will use the MyMemphis portal for this step.

Click on the MyDegree tab and then locate the Commencement channel (box) to access.

Review the Prerequisites to Graduate, then click on Apply to Graduate.

Select a term. Choose the most recent term or the term in which you were last enrolled.

2. Choose a diploma name, and enter diploma address and gown information.*

You will use the MyMemphis portal for this step. This step is required by all graduating students whether attending the commencement ceremony or not.

*Things to know about this step…

a. The system will give you allowable options to choose. For instance, Johnny B. Good, Johnny Good, or Johnny Be Good. If the complete spelling of your middle is not offered as an option, and you want your full name, an official name change will be necessary. The same goes for suffixes, such as Jr., Sr. or III.  The main campus Registrar’s website has instructions for changing your name. You will need to supply a copy of your approved, supporting documents [Social Security card, Driver’s License, Court Order, Birth Certificate, International Passport or Resident Alien Papers]. If you have questions about this, please stop by the Law Registrar’s office [Room 264].

b.  When choosing a mailing address, consider that honors are awarded based on a percentage system rather than GPA (Academic Regulation 13.4), possibly causing a delay in mailing December and May graduates’ diplomas until late September. The entire graduating class for your academic year must complete all requirements before ranking and honors distinctions can be made. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.

c. Only list an address that is capable of receiving a 10×16 envelope.

d. During the spring semester, you may receive an email from the main campus Commencement Office referring to a “Final Graduation form.” You can disregard this.

3. Email the Law Registrar’s office if you do NOT plan to walk in the Commencement ceremony!

4. Work hard and knock your final semester out of the park!
