National Mock Trial Tournament Seeks Students and Professors to Judge

EARN PRO BONO HOURS at the American Mock Trial Association National Championship Tournament
Students can earn 3.5 pro bono hours for each round they judge with a max of 14 hours.
We are also recruiting any law school professors or alumni that would be interested in judging at the tournament. We’ve had professors join us in the past and loved it!
We’re asking judges to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their registered rounds but we will begin judges’ check-in 45 minutes before each round. I’ve specified the exact arrival times below.
Judge Arrival Times:
Round 1, April 14 – arrive at 4:00 pm
Round 2, April 15 – arrive at 8:30 am
Round 3, April 15 – arrive at 1:30 pm
Round 4, April 16 – arrive at 8:30 am

The NCT will host the top 48 collegiate mock trial teams in the country and determine the 2023 National Champions!

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER (Please note that this is a registration form, NOT an availability form. If you sign up for all four rounds, we take this to mean that you are planning to judge every single round for the weekend.)
We cannot thank you enough in advance for your assistance. The National Championship Tournament would not be possible without volunteers, like you, serving as judges and jurors. Whether you can judge or not, please consider passing along this information and our contact information on to other colleagues whom you think would be willing and able to help out. Every little bit helps!
Below includes more information about the tournament specifics and the role you can play. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have! You can reach us at nct.judges2023@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
National Judge Recruitment Team
Further Information:
What Will I Do?
We need “judges” and “jurors” for this event. We’ve described these two roles below, and you do not have to have a trial lawyer background to serve as a volunteer in either role. Volunteers can serve in two capacities:
Presiding Judge
This judge will rule on objections and preside over the trial, in addition to writing down comments and scoring the competitors.
Scoring Juror
These individuals are our “jury members”. These individuals will write comments and score the students, but will only speak during a brief verbal feedback session at the conclusion of the trial.
How Else Can I Help?
Whether you can judge or not, please consider passing along this information and our contact information on to other colleagues and people in the community whom you think would be willing and able to help out. Every little bit helps!
