Mindfulness in Law Society “Mindful in Memphis” Retreat/Conference June 9-11, 2023
Mindfulness in Law Society is a national non-profit organization committed to enhancing well-being in the legal profession. The organization was formed in part as a response to The Path to Lawyer Well-Being Report, a 2018 report that comprehensively explored the serious issues we face in our challenging profession, and made specific recommendations about how lawyers, law firms and other stakeholders can make a difference in creating positive change. Mindfulness meditation and other contemplative practices were specifically recommended in the Report, and the organization’s mission is to make these valuable resources more accessible to lawyers and legal employers.
Towards that end, over the weekend of June 10-11, 2023, the organization is hosting “Mindful in Memphis,” an amazing, in-person conference/retreat in Memphis, Tennessee, that will include…
—Sessions on mindfulness, law, and the path to lawyer wellbeing
—Meditation and mindful movement practice sessions (I lead yoga in the student lounge Sat. morning 7am)
—A very special program with MILS board member Professor Rhonda Magee, who will talk about her powerful book, The Inner Work of Racial Justice, and lead us in a series of contemplative practices
—A tour of the National Civil Rights Museum
