LAST CHANCE: Moot Court Travel Team Applications (10/30 Deadline)
Moot Court travel team participants receive school credit while traveling all over the country representing Memphis Law and our Advocacy Program. In the past, teams have traveled to D.C., New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston and many more cities! There are three teams looking for competitors and brief-writers. If you are interested, please submit a one or two page statement explaining your interest and qualifications for competing on a travel team, a resume, and a persuasive writing sample. Your interest statement should contain a ranking of your team preferences or indicate if you have no preference. All applications are due to Barbara Kritchevsky at bkrtchvs@memphis.edu AND Angelica Jacox at Angelica.jacox@memphis.edu by October 30, 2019 at 1:00 PM. If you are interested in being a brief writer, please indicate that preference in your statement of interest as well. Brief graders are not required to actually try out for the team. Tryouts for the ABA, Duberstein, and Wagner moot court teams will all be conducted together. We will contact to you to schedule a tryout once we receive your materials. Tryouts will be about 20-30 minutes and will consist of a 7-10 minute oral argument, along with a brief interview with the coaches. Please see additional information and descriptions of the teams below.
Applicable to all:
Competitors will receive 2 academic credits for writing the brief and advocating in the competition; those who just join a team as a brief writer will receive 1 academic credit. School reimburses all team members for hotel and per diem meals. The flights are paid for ahead of time.
Must submit an interest statement, resume, and writing sample. Coaches prefer if the writing sample is a legal argument (e.g., appellate brief, trial brief or memorandum). Please rank your team preferences in the interest statement.
