Please see the invitation below to attend a special CLE event on January 27th. Please note that you need to reserve a space, as provided below, in order to attend. If you would like more information, I can provide a copy of the CLE brochure.
Sincerely,

INVITATION:
Dean Letsou and Associate Dean Mulroy:
By way of introduction, I am helping to coordinate a uniquely special CLE in Memphis on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 12:00PM – 1:00PM and wanted to extend an offer to both Memphis Law faculty and students (on a first come first serve basis until we reach seating capacity) to attend the presentation, as our guests, with no entrance charge.
The CLE will feature internationally renowned constitutional lawyer and religious rights advocate, Mr. Nathan (Nat) Lewin. I have attached the CLE Brochure which contains Mr. Lewin’s complete bio, but to say the very least, he is one of the most experienced and influential constitutional lawyers we have had in this country in the past fifty years. My understanding is that the law school brought Mr. Lewin to Memphis to speak to the students nearly twenty years ago and that the event was standing room only.
Mr. Lewin is a graduate of Harvard Law School and was a law clerk to Associate Justice John M. Harlan of the Supreme Court of the United States. He has presented 28 oral arguments in the Supreme Court of the United States, including the three most important cases involving religious rights argued in the past 30 years. His individual clients have included Attorney General Edwin Meese, III, former president Richard Nixon, actress Jodie Foster, musician John Lennon, nursing home owner Bernard Bergman, Congressman George Hansen, Teamsters president Roy Williams, and Israeli war hero Aviem Sella.
Mr. Lewin will be in Memphis from Washington, DC, just for the weekend. I have personally heard him speak several times and he is tremendous! – fascinating, entertaining, and brilliant.
The CLE’s venue in the theater at the Memphis Jewish Community Center has limited seating so I would ask that any interested faculty or students please confirm attendance by emailing CLE@YIOM.org as soon as possible. Reservations are required and once we reach capacity, we will unfortunately have to begin turning people away.
In the event you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year.
-Josh
