Fellowship to Attend Nonprofit Organizations Institute
With funding from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, The David and Lucille Packard Foundation, and Arnold Ventures, this is our third annual Student Fellowship to The University of Texas School of Law’s Nonprofit Organizations Institute. The application is open—with a deadline of October 31—and I am writing to ask for your help in spreading the word to your current law students about this opportunity as we hope many could be interested in applying.
This fellowship program was created to encourage participation and engagement in the tax-exempt organizations practice of law by introducing 2nd and 3rd year law students to the practice area, providing opportunities for mentorship, and creating a network of law students interested in pursuing the practice. Many students do not even realize that this is a specific area of practice to pursue.
A single-year fellowship will be awarded to up to ten recipients that allows for in-person attendance to The University of Texas School of Law’s 41st Annual Nonprofit Organizations Institute on February 7-9, 2023 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, TX. The Institute is a continuing legal and professional education conference that brings together nationally recognized experts from private foundations, public charities, law, finance, and government to discuss the latest tax, legislative and governance issues affecting nonprofit organizations. (For reference, see our PRIOR year’s conference brochure, including full agenda and conference faculty.)
Again, because of the timing of the February conference, the application window is tight – applications are due by October 31st . We are casting a national net, but and we want as many interested students to apply as possible.
We would appreciate any assistance you can provide in circulating this information broadly to your current law students, but certainly, to any relevant student organizations or affinity groups, students who may work in pro bono clinics or seek internships in the nonprofit sector, and whoever you think might be interested and eligible for this opportunity.
If you have any questions at all please let me know.
Thank you, in advance, for your assistance and your support in promoting this Student Fellowship program!
