Be a Judge and Get Pro Bono Hours at the Opening Round Championship Series Mock Trial Tournament
Be a “Judge” and get pro bono hours for each hour you volunteer. Report your pro bono hours in Symplicity. The top 6 teams from the Opening Round Championship Series Mock Trial Tournament (along with the top 6 teams from 7 other “ORCS” across the country) will go on to compete at the National Championship Tournament. All 24 teams who will be competing have already qualified from regional tournaments which have been taking place throughout February.
We are known for hosting one of the best tournaments in the country due largely to our beautiful courthouse and fantastic judge pool.
AMTA is enacting strict COVID protocols that include masking and vaccination/testing requirements.

The rounds right now are scheduled to be held at the D’Army Bailey Courthouse. We are looking at backup locations at Rhodes (and possibly the law school) but the goal is to have rounds at the courthouse at 140 Adams.
Round 1: Friday March 11 at 4pm
Round 2: Saturday March 12 at 9:30 am
Round 3: Saturday March 12 at 2:30 pm
Round 4: Sunday March 13 at 9:30 am
Each round of competition is 3 hours long. There are four rounds total. Judges can sign up for as many rounds as they like. There is one round on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. Judging on Saturday includes lunch so the judges who judge both rounds are there a little longer than just the 6 hours of trial time (usually about 8 hours total).
Judges should plan to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled round. There will be an online judge tutorial that will be made available to them the week before the tournament.
Judges (as of now) will report to courtroom 227 in order to receive assignments for their specific round. Judges will get an email if this location changes based on venue shifts.
