Bar Exam Award/Scholarship– Applications Due Monday, January 13

This year third-year students will be able to apply for the Memphis Law Bar Application Support Award and the Bar Scholarship using the same application. If you are selected, you will only be given one award.

The Memphis Law Bar Application Support Award was created by Marcy Walker, a 2015 graduate of Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She was inspired by a fellow classmate to pay it forward. During the second half of Marcy’s 3L year, she learned that some of her classmates were struggling to find the funds to pay all of the fees necessary to take the bar exam. Marcy has set up this fund to help future individuals who cannot afford the bar application fee and other related expenses necessary to take the bar exam.

The award will cover the amount of the bar examination fee (including laptop testing fee) in your state of choice. At least one award will be given. Selected recipient(s) for this award will be recognized at graduation.

The Bar Scholarship was made possible by a generous donation to support Memphis Law graduates preparing for the bar exam. It is designed to assist students in covering expenses related to the bar examination fees and other bar-related expenses such as purchasing a bar preparation course. Multiple awards will be given.

The application deadline is Monday, January 13 at 5:00 p.m.

• Please submit a detailed financial statement including all outstanding debt, recurring expenses, and income. [A sample template is available in the application].
• Please provide any other information you would like for the committee to consider as part of your application.
