Attention 3Ls: Important Information about Moving Violations for the Bar

Dear 3Ls,

Many of you had questions after the bar workshop about whether you needed to disclose all moving violations or speeding tickets to the law school.  We have spoken with Lisa Perlen at the Tennessee Bar, and you are NOT REQUIRED to disclose all speeding tickets or moving violations to the law school.  You will have to disclose these moving violations as part of your bar exam application, but you do not need to disclose them to us.

For the law school’s purpose, you only need to keep your law school file updated by disclosing any new admonitories that you would have been obligated to disclose on your original law school application had they occurred at the time of you applied.  I have attached a copy of the relevant portion of the application for your reference here.

Please let me or Dean Romantz know if you have any questions about this.

Thanks,
Dean Aden
