3L/4Ls – NCBE NextGen Bar Pilot Testing
The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) has invited University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law students and 2019–2022 graduates to participate in a remote pilot test of the NextGen bar exam on April 20–21. Participants will have the unique opportunity to share input and honest feedback on new question types being studied for NextGen, which is scheduled to launch in 2026. Participants who complete the pilot test assignment will receive a $100 honorarium.
- To participate, you must be a 3L/4L student within your final semester of law school or a 2019–2022 graduate from our school.
- The approximately two-hour pilot test will be administered remotely on Thursday and Friday, April 20–21. You may use your own laptop or desktop computer to take the pilot test from anywhere you choose. The window to take the pilot test is Thursday, April 20, from 6:00 a.m. central time through Friday, April 21, midnight central time.
- The test and research questions will take approximately two hours to complete; you need not request extended time – once you start the test, the testing link will be live for four hours. You should not begin the pilot test until you have sufficient time to complete it in a single sitting.
- The purpose of the pilot test is for NCBE to assess the questions, not the participants! While you are expected to do your best and make a good faith effort to answer all of the exam questions, no evaluation of your individual performance will be shared with you, us, or any bar admissions agency.
- All pilot test materials are confidential. You will need to complete NCBE’s NDA on test day prior to viewing the items.
- As a thank you for your time and efforts, you will receive a $100 honorarium from NCBE after researchers confirm that you completed the pilot test and all associated survey questions.
- If you are interested in participating, please complete the form found at this link by Friday, April 7: https://surveys.ncbex.org/s3/April-20-21-Sign-Up
- NCBE’s research team will select a diverse and representative pool of participants. If you are selected to participate, you will receive a confirmation email by April 14. In the meantime, please save April 20–21 on your calendar.
