1Ls/2Ls: Deadline for Paid FDIC Clerk Position extended to December 11
The FDIC seeks an intern law clerk for part-time work during the school year and full time work during the summer. This is a PAID position. 2Ls and 1Ls may apply (1Ls should obtain a “Letter of Good Standing” from Cheryl Edwards in the Registrar’s Office since 1L grades will not be available before the application is due). The application is fairly long so DO NOT wait until the last minute to apply if you are interested. Also, you will need to include two letters of recommendation and a writing sample with your application.
DUTIES
Interns assigned to the Legal Division will assist attorneys in performing supervised legal research and writing and preparing legal memoranda covering a wide range of topics relating to the operation of the Legal Office. Areas of operation include bank regulatory and consumer compliance matters:
• Developing, drafting and providing legal opinions on legislation, regulations and policy statements relating to insured depository institutions.
• Providing guidance on deposit insurance coverage, assessments of insured depository institutions, Federal securities laws, and consumer laws.
• Working closely with bank and review examiners to ensure bank compliance with banking and consumer protection laws and regulations and the continued safety and soundness of insured depository institutions.
• Preparing and litigating enforcement cases before administrative law judges.
