APPLY BY JANUARY 17 (and ALSO apply to Butler Snow OCI by January 15 to be considered for the scholarship)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This dedication extends beyond Butler Snow through the Firm’s active participation in and sponsorship of organizations and events that support diversity and inclusivity in the legal profession. We promote inclusivity through professional associations, mentoring, recruiting, sponsorships and networking. In addition, Butler Snow is pleased to offer four Diversity/Inclusivity Scholarships, details of which may be found below:
• Scholarships and Dollar Amount:
The Firm will award up to four Butler Snow Diversity/Inclusivity Scholarships to 1Ls annually. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a paid 1L Summer Associate position, plus a $2,500 scholarship to be distributed in August following their clerkship. These scholarships are intended to allow students to defray the cost of their continuing legal education. • If a candidate accepts an offer to return and clerks with Butler Snow after their 2L year, the candidate will receive an additional $1,500 scholarship to be distributed in August following that 2L clerkship.
• Eligibility:
A scholarship applicant must be diverse and have excellent undergraduate and law school academic performance, as well as leadership ability, personal and professional accomplishments, and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity. Additional qualifications to be eligible: (1) be a full-time law student in the first-year of classes at an accredited law school; (2) apply and receive an offer to join Butler Snow’s Summer Associate program; and (3) indicate an interest in practicing with Butler Snow after graduation.
• Application Process:
Please submit the following materials on or before January 17, 2020:
· Completed Butler Snow Diversity / Inclusivity Scholarship Application form (available in the Career Services Office)
· Current resume.
· Current official law school transcript.
· Personal Statement (500 words or less). Please address what you believe demonstrates your qualification for a Diversity/Inclusivity Scholarship, including, for example, a description of your academic and personal strengths; exceptional contributions, through community service or otherwise, to the cause of diversity; and/or how you have overcome adversity, such as a personal or family history of educational or socioeconomic disadvantage and have demonstrated the tenacity and talent to excel in the legal profession.

• Selection Process: Recipients will be selected based on a myriad of factors, including: (1) undergraduate and law school academic performance; (2) demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity and contributing to the Firm’s diversity goals; (3) personal achievement; (4) leadership ability; (5) community inclusivity service; and (6) commitment to succeed as a lawyer.
