New Accessible Parking Requirements at the Law School
Parking Services is updating the process for using the accessible parking spaces in the law school driveway.
- Starting in September, students, faculty, and staff will need to register and later purchase a University of Memphis Accessible Parking Placard to continue parking in these spaces.
- Parking & Transportation Services will verify your eligibility by confirming that you have a valid state-issued accessible placard or license plate registered in your name.
Phase 1: Eligibility & Registration (by September 10)
Eligibility
- Anyone with a valid, state-issued accessible placard or license plate registered in their name.
Registration
To register, email parking@memphis.edu with:
- A photo of your state-issued accessible placard (front and back) OR your accessible license plate number (no photo needed).
- Proof of ownership (a document linking your name to the placard or plate; requirements vary by state).
- Each state issues this differently—see Tennessee’s example Proof Of Ownership TN.
In-Person Option: You may also register in person at Parking & Transportation Services in the lower level of the Zach Curlin parking garage, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
Phase 2: Payment & Enforcement (TBA)
Payment
- After registration, you will have the option to purchase the accessible placard.
- The final cost is still being set but is expected to be comparable to or less than nearby garages like Shoppers.
- There is no obligation to purchase after registering if you change your mind.
Enforcement
- Once payments are collected and placards are issued, enforcement will begin.
- Vehicles parked in accessible spaces without a university-issued accessible placard will be ticketed.
- Repeat violators will be towed.
