IMPORTANT: Honor Code – Duty to Report
Dear Colleagues,
With mid-terms in progress, I want to remind everyone of the oath each student takes during orientation to uphold the Honor Code. The Honor Code is in place to ensure that law students are conducting themselves professionally and honorably. The Honor Council enforces that Code. If you see any questionable conduct that reasonably causes you to believe that a violation of the Honor Code has occurred, then you are under a duty to report it to the Honor Council in accordance with Provision 21.4(m) of the Academic Regulations. Additionally, the failure to report a potential violation is an Honor Code violation in and of itself under Provision 21.4(m) of the Academic Regulations. We are completely confidential, so we will handle any referral with the utmost confidentiality, neutrality, and diligence. You may report a violation of the Honor Code to either Dean Wilson or myself (jrwshbrn@memphis.edu). We truly appreciate you continuing to uphold your oath, and best of luck on the remainder of the semester.
Best,
James Washburn
Chief Justice
