{"id":9524,"date":"2017-10-05T13:00:28","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T18:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/?p=9524"},"modified":"2017-10-05T13:00:28","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T18:00:28","slug":"reminder-sign-up-for-national-mock-trial-team-tryouts-by-tomorrow-at-430-p-m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/index.php\/reminder-sign-up-for-national-mock-trial-team-tryouts-by-tomorrow-at-430-p-m\/","title":{"rendered":"REMINDER: SIGN UP FOR NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL TEAM TRYOUTS BY TOMORROW AT 4:30 P.M."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coaches Danny Schaffzin, Jodi Wilson, and Brigid Welsh invite 2L and 3L students to try out for the Law School\u2019s 2017-18 National Trial Team. \u00a0<strong>Interested students should sign up by TOMORROW, Friday, October 6th, at 4:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>2017-18 Regional Competition<\/u><\/strong>: The\u00a0National Trial Team will compete in the Regional Rounds of the National Trial Competition at the University of Tennessee School of Law\u00a0in February 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Tryout Dates and Times:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0Tryouts will be held on Monday, October 9<sup>th<\/sup>, and on Tuesday, October 10<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0Each tryout will last 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Preparation<\/u><\/strong>: Applicants will be expected to give a closing argument based on <strong>Canas v. Hammer<\/strong>, a case file from a previous National Trial Competition. \u00a0The closing argument should be 5-7 minutes in length. \u00a0Applicants can argue for either the Plaintiff or the Defendant. \u00a0Any questions about the substance of the closing argument should be directed to Coach Schaffzin, Coach Wilson, or Coach Welsh.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Registration<\/u><\/strong>: Interested students should register for the National Mock Trial Team\u2019s TWEN page (2017-18 National Mock Trial Team\u201d) and sign-up for a tryout slot under the \u201csign-up sheets\u201d tab on the TWEN page.\u00a0 Once you have signed up for a tryout slot, please e-mail a current resume to Coach Welsh at <a href=\"mailto:dschffzn@memphis.edu\">bcwelsh@memphis.edu<\/a>. \u00a0You can access the tryout case file, <strong>Canas v.
