{"id":8340,"date":"2017-03-30T15:43:33","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T20:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlegalgrounds.law.memphis.edu\/wordpress\/?p=8340"},"modified":"2017-03-30T16:10:40","modified_gmt":"2017-03-30T21:10:40","slug":"registration-summer-and-fall-begins-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/index.php\/registration-summer-and-fall-begins-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration (Summer and Fall) begins next week!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are a few things you should know:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ THE REGISTRATION MEMOS<\/strong> &#8211; There is one for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/documents\/summer2017registrationmemo.pdf\">Summer <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/documents\/fall2017registrationmemo.pdf\">Fall<\/a>. There is A LOT of important information contained in those.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Are you a veteran, were you an athlete on main campus in the past, do have disability accommodations, etc.? Have you needed an Alternate PIN in the past?\u00a0<\/strong>Notify the <a href=\"http:\/\/lawregistrar@memphis.edu\">Registrar&#8217;s <\/a>office, so we can clear it. \u00a0Certain courses fill up quickly and if you do not have this cleared, it will delay your registration and could compromise your seat in in-demand courses.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The following are\u00a0critical registration errors and could keep you from getting a seat in the course(s) you (really, really) want.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you owe the University money? If yes, \u00a0you may have a hold on your account. You <em>cannot<\/em> register with a hold on your account. Look for <strong>TigerXpress<\/strong> under the\u00a0<strong>Account$<\/strong> tab on your\u00a0<em>myMemphis<\/em>\u00a0page to make sure your balance is zero.<\/li>\n<li>Check for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/current-students\/course-catalog.php\">pre-requisites<\/a> for all the courses you anticipate registering for. If you register, and do not meet the pre-requisite, you will be booted (even as late as the first day of class&#8230;YIKES!).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not register out of turn.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Veterans Only \u2013 Monday, April\u00a03 AT 8:00 A.M.<\/li>\n<li>43+ <em>attempted<\/em> hours \u2013Tuesday, April 4 AT 9:00 A.M.<\/li>\n<li>15-42 <em>attempted<\/em> hours \u2013 Thursday April 6 AT 9:00 A.M.<\/li>\n<li>0-14 <em>attempted<\/em> hours \u2013 Friday, April 7 AT 9:00 A.M.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the amount of hours you are registering for are allowed for your GPA or course. [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/current-students\/academic-regulations.php\">Academic Reg. 5.1<\/a>\u00a0states &#8220;<em>. . .no student with less than a 2.5 cumulative grade point average may enroll in more than 16 credit hours in a semester.<\/em>&#8221; The reg. also states, &#8220;<em>Unless permission of the Dean is obtained, no student enrolled in an extern program may be enrolled in more than 16 credit hours, <strong>including<\/strong> the externship<\/em>.&#8221;]<\/li>\n<li>Students must secure permission from the Dean to transfer from a part-time program to a full-time program, and vice versa. Do not register for too much or not enough hours with out permission.<\/li>\n<li>Check the Exam Schedule. <strong>No<\/strong> exceptions in the Exam Schedule will be made unless written approval is obtained from the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs <strong>prior<\/strong> to enrolling. Requests must be submitted in writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>All rising 2Ls\u00a0will register themselves. If you have questions about how to register yourself, stop by the Registrar&#8217;s office. [Dean&#8217;s wing, Room 262]<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If you were notified you had a seat in a skills or seminar course, the Registrar&#8217;s office will register you for those courses.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>There are still openings in the following skills courses.\u00a0Check the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/current-students\/course-catalog.php\">Course Catalog<\/a> that you&#8217;ve met any prerequisites, then email <a href=\"http:\/\/cheryl.edwards@memphis.edu\">Cheryl Edwards<\/a> if you want a seat.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>ADR: Mediation (Cantrell)<\/li>\n<li>Trial Advocacy (Craft and Nichols)<\/li>\n<li>Legal Drafting: Litigation (Chambliss)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>There are still openings in Dean Mulroy&#8217;s Federal Discrimination seminar. \u00a0Email <a href=\"mailto:cheryl.edwards@memphis.edu\">Cheryl Edwards<\/a> if you want a seat.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are a few things you should know: READ THE REGISTRATION MEMOS &#8211; There is one for Summer and Fall.
