Greetings law students:<\/p>\n

My name is Jonathan A. Lindsey, and I\u2019m emailing in regard to the 2017 Lawyers Basketball League of the Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Greg Allen and I, each graduates of the Cecil C. Humphreys Law School, are members of the Sports Committee of the Young Lawyers Division, and are in charge of organizing this year\u2019s League. As some of you may be aware, the YLD permits and encourages law students to participate in the League. The only requirement is that you sign up for the Memphis Bar Association as a law student member. Membership is free for law students, and you can sign up via its website (click here). <\/a>If you have any trouble signing up, please call Charlotte Gean at 901.527.3573 x116 or e-mail her at ckgean@memphisbar.org. <\/p>\n

Regarding the League, teams generally have between 6 to 10 players. There is a fee to play in the League, but it is determined based on the total number of teams and players playing in the League, so we won\u2019t have the precise number until closer to the start of League play. We are still sorting out some of the logistics, but we are aiming to start games the week of February 27th. If you are interested in playing, we ask that you sign up using the link above and bring the printed confirmation page to the \u201cdraft\u201d discussed below.<\/p>\n

There will be an information session and (very) informal \u201cdraft\u201d\/happy hour on Thursday, February 2nd at 5:30 PM at Aldo\u2019s Pizza Pies Downtown (Event Link). <\/a>We will give new interested players some time to meet and talk to League members. The new players will then be assigned to teams later that night following the draft. Please email me (jlindsey@martintate.com) or Greg (greg@iwilldefendu.com) with any questions. We prefer all laws student go through the draft process, but if you are certain that you will be a member of a team, please let us know (and which team you play with) so that we can have the information on the night of the draft.<\/p>\n
