There are to be two bar governors for each 1L section.<\/p>\n<p>A description of the bar governor position can be found in the SBA Constitution: <span dir=\"ltr\">\u2013\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk589465\" href=\"http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/documents\/sba-constitution2014-15.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/law\/documents\/sba-constitution2014-15.pdf<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Election Rules for the Candidates:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A petition with 25 signatures of current students must be submitted to Mailbox 160 by 5:00 pm on Monday, August 29th. A template for the petition can be found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/SBA-Bar-Gov-Petition.docx\">SBA Bar Gov Petition<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A written statement of no more than 200 words must be submitted to Forrest Edwards at Forrest.Edwards@memphis.edu by 5:00 pm on August 29th.<\/li>\n<li>Voting will occur from Tuesday, August 30 through Thursday, September 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. All 1L students are eligible to vote.<\/li>\n<li>The candidate receiving a simple majority will be declared the winner. In the event that one candidate does not win a majority, a run-off election between the two candidates receiving the most votes will occur on September 6th and September 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The candidate winning the majority in the run-off will be declared the winner.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates shall not spend more than fifty dollars ($50) on campaign materials.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates shall not provide food or beverages to students.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates are limited to displaying campaign flyers (maximum size 8.5 x 11 in) in any of the following areas: the Student Lounge, the Fourth Floor Reading Room, the bulletin boards by the lockers, or on the SBA bulletin board in the lobby. *<\/li>\n<li>Candidates shall not loiter around the poll.<\/li>\n<li>Neither candidates nor their supporters shall campaign by email; however, social media such as Facebook or Twitter may be employed.<\/li>\n<li>Campaign materials may be distributed and displayed after 5 p.m. on Monday August 29th, once the petition and written statement have been submitted.<\/li>\n<li>Under no circumstances shall any campaign materials be hung on the walls or taped down to any surfaces.<\/li>\n<li>FAILURE TO FOLLOW ANY RULES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>* Candidates must contact the SBA secretary, Mel Borrelli, about displaying their flyers on the SBA bulletin board in the lobby.
