Just 51 at the time of his death, Michael spent most of his adult life caring for others. In 2014, Major League baseball players honored Michael\u2019s legacy by establishing the Michael Weiner Scholarship for Labor Studies. This scholarship seeks to recognize and support the efforts of graduate and\/or law school students dedicated to improving the lives of workers. \u00a0Since its debut, we received more than 120 eligible applications from 87 different schools across the United States; and 10 outstanding students were selected to each receive a $10,000 scholarship from the Players Trust to assist in their academic costs. Based on the number of applicants, and the content contained within their applications, it\u2019s safe to say that the next generation of labor leaders is a passionate one, committed to improving the rights of workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Student must be a full-time Graduate or Law Student (by the time the award is distributed) with a demonstrated commitment to the labor movement. Application deadline is <strong>Monday, November 7, 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Award\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The recipient of the Michael Weiner Scholarship for Labor Studies will receive <strong>$10,000<\/strong> payable towards their tuition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be accepted from now <strong>through <\/strong><strong>Monday, November 7, 2016<\/strong>.
