We are pleased to announce the launch of MomentUM, the University’s official campus crowdfunding platform dedicated to helping you reach your fundraising goals. You can create crowdfunding projects to raise money and awareness for innovative projects, service trips, events, research, and other UoM-specific ventures.<\/p>\n
This summer, MomentUM’s pilot project for Frosh Camp exceeded the $5000 fundraising goal. The team raised $6208 in 30 days.<\/strong> The Fall application deadline is September 12, 2016.<\/strong> \u2022 Kickstarter makes you return your donations if you don’t make your fundraising goal. That does not happen with MomentUM.
\nMomentUM project users must be a part of the UofM community. Your group can apply for MomentUM. Get your fundraising plan together, gather your project team info, then go to their website<\/a> and click on apply.<\/p>\n
\nWhy use MomentUM instead of a different crowdfunding platform like Kickstarter, GoFundMe, or Indiegogo?<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 You are not charged extra to use the UofM’s payment processor for your project. (GoFundMe’s fee is 2.9% + $.0.30 per donation to process the payment. Indiegogo charges 3% + $0.30 third-party credit card fees.)
\n\u2022 You have access to proven, successful fundraising strategies and templates.
\n\u2022 Your donors will receive UofM charitable gift receipts for their taxes.
\n\u2022 It’s easy for you to administer and a secure way for your friends to donate.
\n\u2022 Any donations to your crowdfunding project will follow standard UofM guidelines (found here<\/a>) and counts as gifts to UofM – increasing our institutional ranking!<\/p>\n
