{"id":5620,"date":"2016-04-12T13:20:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T18:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlegalgrounds.law.memphis.edu\/wordpress\/?p=5620"},"modified":"2016-04-12T13:20:59","modified_gmt":"2016-04-12T18:20:59","slug":"paid-shelby-county-board-of-education-summer-intership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/index.php\/paid-shelby-county-board-of-education-summer-intership\/","title":{"rendered":"*PAID* SHELBY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION SUMMER INTERSHIP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The Office of the General Counsel for the Shelby County Board of Education is currently seeking a law clerk for a summer 2016 internship opportunity.\u00a0 Summer Clerkships will be a full time position lasting approximately 10 weeks.\u00a0 (anticipated 5\/31\/16 to 8\/4\/16).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">Clerks will gain hands on experience in matters dealing with education law, contract law, civil rights, tort liability, and employment law.\u00a0 Law clerks will conduct legal research, draft legal memoranda, review contracts and assist in other legal matters relevant to the operation of a public school system.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The successful candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school and have completed their second year of law school.\u00a0 The ideal candidate will also have strong research, writing, problem solving, and analytical abilities.\u00a0 He\/she must be a team player, but also be able to work independently. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as incredible attention to detail.\u00a0 The ideal candidate will have eagerness to learn and a passion for education reform.\u00a0 He\/she should also be a member of law review and\/or an honors moot court program.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The position will only remain open &#8220;UNTIL FILLED,&#8221; so apply ASAP.\u00a0 The pay is $18\/hr. 2L preferred.
