Paid Summer Legal Internship \u2013 ALSAC Legal Department<\/strong><\/b> (ALSAC is the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital)<\/em><\/i><\/p>\n

Position Title: Legal Intern<\/p>\n

Department: Legal<\/p>\n

Location: Memphis, TN<\/p>\n

Duration: Summer (June 1, 2026-August 7, 2026)<\/p>\n

FLSA Status: Internship \u2013 Non-Exempt\/ 40 hours per week<\/p>\n

Compensation $22-$25 per hour<\/p>\n

Position Summary<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

The Legal Intern will support the ALSAC\u2019s Legal Department in providing guidance on a wide range of issues, including regulatory compliance, contracts, fundraising, and employment matters. This internship provides meaningful exposure to the unique legal and operational challenges that nonprofits face, with opportunities to work collaboratively across departments such as, Development, Employee Experience, Finance, and Compliance.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Legal Research & Analysis<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Conduct research on intellectual property and trademarks law, federal and state tax regulations for nonprofit entities, charitable solicitation and gaming laws, privacy regulations, employment law, AI regulations, and other regulatory compliance requirements.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Prepare legal research in various formats summarizing findings and risk considerations.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Monitor new federal and state developments impacting nonprofit operations or funding.<\/p>\n

Drafting & Document Support<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Draft, review, and edit contracts such as vendor agreements, nondisclosure agreements, grant agreements, and partnership agreements.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Support creation and maintenance of legal templates and document repositories.<\/p>\n

Cross-Functional Collaboration<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Participate in meetings and observe how the Legal Department advises business units.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assist with special projects related to mission-driven initiatives, process improvement, or risk assessment.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Support department estate management program.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Education<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Current enrollment in an accredited law school and completion of at least two full semesters<\/p>\n

Skills & Competencies<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Strong legal research and writing skills.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Interest in nonprofit operations and compliance.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse teams.<\/p>\n

Preferred Experience<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Coursework related to nonprofit organizations, tax law, administrative law, employment law, or contracts.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Prior experience in nonprofit work, pro bono projects, or public service (legal or non-legal).<\/p>\n
