Papers written by law school students on an employee benefits topic may be entered in the 22nd<\/sup> annual American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup>) Employee Benefits Writing Competition<\/strong> between February 1, 2026 and<\/strong>June 1, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0 ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> will recognize up to two winning papers with cash awards of $2,500 each<\/strong>.\u00a0 ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> will also pay travel and lodging expenses to the winning authors to attend the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> annual meeting in San Diego, California on October 9-10, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0 The primary purposes of the writing competition are to encourage legal scholarship in areas of concern or interest in the employee benefits field and to foster interest in promising students in the practice of employee benefits law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage any interested law school student, including L.L.M or S.J.D. candidates, to submit a paper addressing a specific legal topic in the field of employee benefits or executive compensation.\u00a0 Students may check the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> website for additional information at ACEBC Employee Benefits Writing Competition for Law Students \u00a0|\u00a0ACEBC<\/a>, including links to winning papers over the years.\u00a0 The official rules are at ACEBC-Writing-Competition-Announcement-2026.pdf<\/a>. Last year\u2019s winners were from the University of Minnesota School of Law and Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.<\/h5>\n
The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to elevating the standards and advancing the public’s understanding of the practice of employee benefits law. In pursuit of these goals, the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> encourages the study and development of employee benefits laws, initiates professional discussions of significant employee benefits issues, and sponsors this writing competition, a moot court competition, and legal education programs.<\/h5>\n
