{"id":37467,"date":"2025-09-09T09:10:40","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:10:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/?p=37467"},"modified":"2025-09-09T09:27:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:27:25","slug":"new-accessible-parking-requirements-at-the-law-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/index.php\/new-accessible-parking-requirements-at-the-law-school\/","title":{"rendered":"New Accessible Parking Requirements at the Law School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/download.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-37475\" src=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/download.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/download.png 224w, https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/download-150x150.png?crop=1 150w, https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/download-80x80.png?crop=1 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Parking Services is updating the process for using the accessible parking spaces in the law school driveway.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting in <strong>September<\/strong>, students, faculty, and staff will need to <strong><u>register<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0and later <strong><u>purchase<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0a University of Memphis Accessible Parking Placard to continue parking in these spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Parking &amp; Transportation Services will verify your eligibility by confirming that you have a valid state-issued accessible placard or license plate registered in your name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Phase 1: Eligibility &amp; Registration (by September 10)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Eligibility<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anyone with a valid, state-issued accessible placard or license plate registered in their name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em><u>Registration<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To register, email <strong><u><a href=\"mailto:parking@memphis.edu\">parking@memphis.edu<\/a><\/u><\/strong>\u00a0with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>photo of your <\/strong>state-issued <strong>accessible placard<\/strong>\u00a0(front and back) <strong>OR<\/strong>\u00a0your <strong>accessible license plate number<\/strong>\u00a0(no photo needed).<\/li>\n<li>Proof of ownership (a document linking your name to the placard or plate; requirements vary by state).\n<ul>\n<li>Each state issues this differently\u2014see Tennessee\u2019s example <u><a href=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Proof-Of-Ownership-TN.pdf\">Proof Of Ownership TN<\/a><\/u>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In-Person Option: <\/strong>\u00a0You may also register in person at Parking &amp; Transportation Services in the lower level of the Zach Curlin parking garage, Monday\u2013Friday, 8 a.m.\u20134 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Phase 2: Payment &amp; Enforcement (TBA)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Payment<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After registration, you will have the option to purchase the accessible placard.<\/li>\n<li>The final cost is still being set but is expected to be comparable to or less than nearby garages like Shoppers.<\/li>\n<li>There is <strong>no obligation to purchase<\/strong>\u00a0after registering if you change your mind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em><u>Enforcement<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Once payments are collected and placards are issued, <strong>enforcement will begin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Vehicles parked in accessible spaces without a university-issued accessible placard will be ticketed.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat violators will be towed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contact <u><a href=\"mailto:maden@memphis.edu\">Dean Aden<\/a><\/u>\u00a0with any questions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parking Services is updating the process for using the accessible parking spaces in the law school driveway.
