Street Law is excited to host its initial meeting on Thursday, August 28th, from 12:00 \u2013 1:00 PM in Room 326<\/strong>. Lunch will be provided!<\/p>\n

At this meeting, we\u2019ll introduce new and returning members to the mission of Street Law and walk through how you can sign up for upcoming teaching sessions. We\u2019ll also answer questions about how the program works and how you can get involved.<\/p>\n

What is Street Law?<\/h2>\n

Street Law is a nonprofit organization that began in 1972 at Georgetown University. Its mission is to teach people, especially youth, about the law, democracy, and human rights in an engaging and accessible way. Since its founding, Street Law has grown into chapters across all 50 states and 40 countries worldwide and includes multiple law schools.<\/p>\n

The Memphis Law chapter currently partners with University Middle School to teach two classes per week, and we will likely be expanding to another middle school in the coming weeks. Law students, faculty members, and practitioners can sign up to teach lessons on law-related topics of interest. The goal is to bridge the gap between youth and the legal system, while inspiring students toward future legal careers.<\/p>\n
