{"id":32656,"date":"2024-04-25T09:25:22","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T14:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/?p=32656"},"modified":"2024-04-25T09:25:22","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T14:25:22","slug":"register-for-selsc-summer-virtual-interviews-by-may-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/index.php\/register-for-selsc-summer-virtual-interviews-by-may-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Register for SELSC Summer Virtual Interviews by May 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Progress in the Profession: a summer interview program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Thursday, July 11, and Friday, July 12<\/span>, 10am to 6pm EDT | Virtual Interviews on Flo Recruit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/SELSC-2024.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-32658\" src=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/SELSC-2024-300x135.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"135\" srcset=\"https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/SELSC-2024-300x135.png 300w, https:\/\/memphislawblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/SELSC-2024.png 647w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration Period: REGISTER by submitting your Resume VIA SYMPLICITY OCI: \u201cSELSC 2024\u201d by Thursday May 9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application Period: June 5 &#8211; 17<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is SELSCon\/Progress?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Formerly known as SEMJF (Southeastern Minority Job Fair), SELSCon\/Progress has a 30+ year track record of success.<\/li>\n<li>A chance to interview for summer and entry level post-graduate positions with top law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations.<\/li>\n<li>In 2023, employers representing 27 states and Washington, DC, conducted over 1,900 interviews.<\/li>\n<li>Employers participate to expand their candidate pool; they review applications and select candidates for interviews.<\/li>\n<li>Learn more: <a href=\"https:\/\/selscon.org\/\">https:\/\/selscon.org\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timed early in the recruiting season.<\/li>\n<li>Exclusive Information Sessions provide opportunities to learn more and make connections.<\/li>\n<li>Submit up to 20 applications to interviewing employers, and an unlimited number of applications to Resume Collect employers who plan to contact candidates directly.<\/li>\n<li>Engage in up to 10 interviews over the two days of the Program, with employers that have an affirmative interest in you.<\/li>\n<li>Refine your personal pitch, hone your ability to field questions, and develop the level of endurance needed for demanding call-back interviews later in the recruiting process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Part 1: Registration and Review Period<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>REGISTER by submitting your Resume VIA SYMPLICITY OCI: \u201cSELSC 2024\u201d by Thursday May 9<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Registration does not obligate you to apply, but you can\u2019t apply if you don\u2019t register.<\/li>\n<li>Registered students will receive access to their Symplicity account on May 22.<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities (with hiring criteria, preferred qualifications, and other details) will be viewable in Symplicity beginning on May 31.<\/li>\n<li>Some employers will present Information Sessions during the review and application period. Details will be available in your Symplicity account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Part 2: Submitting Applications <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A Resume and Candidate Statement are included in every application.<\/li>\n<li>Some employers also require a Cover Letter and\/or a Transcript. Interviewees must provide a writing sample via our virtual platform, Flo Recruit.<\/li>\n<li>Specifics of the application process will be provided to those who register.<\/li>\n<li>The application period: June 5 &#8211; 11:58 pm EDT on June 17.<\/li>\n<li><em><u>The June 17 application deadline cannot be extended, so plan ahead!\n<p><\/u><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Part 3: Selections and Interviews<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Submission of an application is your commitment to an interview if selected<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Interview\/Alternate selections will be available on June 27.<\/li>\n<li>You are limited to 10 Interviews\/Alternate selections (combined). If you receive more, you must reduce your opportunities to 10.<\/li>\n<li>You may not selectively decline interviews under any other circumstance, but you may withdraw entirely if you accept a position.<\/li>\n<li>Interview times will be scheduled for you, and your interview schedule will be available on July 5.<\/li>\n<li>You must be available for interviews between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm <em><u>Eastern Time<\/u><\/em> on both Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12. Individual scheduling requests cannot be accommodated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A full timeline for Progress in the Profession is available in the \u201cFor Candidates\u201d area of<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/selscon.org\/\">SELSCon.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Questions?
