Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, PA<\/strong>\u00a0is seeking driven individuals to serve as Summer Law Clerks for our\u00a0Memphis<\/strong>\u00a0office. 1Ls and 2Ls (rising 2Ls and 3Ls) may apply. The Law Clerk supports attorneys by assembling and organizing information for legal documents; researching law, assembling case materials, writing reports and memoranda. There may be opportunity to continue part-time in the fall.<\/p>\n

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Conducts preliminary legal research as necessary.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assists attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Assembles case materials by collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents and reports.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Maintains calendar by entering and updating requirements, court dates, and meetings.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Effectively compose various legal documents including but not limited to pleadings, discovery, subpoenas and draft correspondence.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Act as a liaison with experts and witnesses in scheduling\/coordinating appearances and\/or depositions along with documentation retrieval.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Perform other duties as requested.<\/p>\n

REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Bachelor\u2019s Degree. The successful candidates will be in law school or have a recent law degree from an ABA approved law school.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Requires critical thinking skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Organized with strong conceptual and research skills.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Ability to manage time and multitask effectively; displays problem solving skills by developing methods or approaches to getting the work done.<\/p>\n

\u00b7 Working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, Internet, along with the ability to maintain, update and modify documents.<\/p>\n

Physical Demands<\/p>\n

This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching and other motions in the course of a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting of supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.<\/p>\n

Working Conditions<\/p>\n

This job is located primarily in an indoor office environment with varying noise levels. There may be varying degrees of temperature. The employee may be interrupted from time to time.<\/p>\n
