New York Attorney General Fellowship Program<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Program Details<\/span><\/div>\n
The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is recruiting applicants for the 2024 Attorney General Fellowship Program. The following are some program highlights:<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2022 This is a two (2) year program for six (6) law school graduates. \u2022 Placements begin in September 2024 and conclude in August 2026. \u2022 Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in working as a public service attorney.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Fellows work as junior attorneys and receive training and mentorship.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Fellows work to protect the rights and interests of the state and people of New York.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Fellows gain hands-on legal experience by working on investigations, affirmative and defensive litigation, and public education and community outreach projects.<\/span><\/div>\n
For 2024, we have placements available in the following locations: New York City, Syracuse and Nassau County (Long Island).<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2022 Placement assignments take into the account the Fellows\u2019 stated location preferences.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 The AG Fellowship Team makes bureau assignments based on the needs of the OAG. We recommend applicants avoid requesting placements in specific bureaus.<\/span><\/div>\n

Fellows receive a salary and benefits.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2022 The annual salary is $78,795 plus benefits.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Benefits include the following: o Health, dental and vision insurance o Retirement programs o Workplace flexibility programs and other family-friendly policies<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 A commitment to complete the two (2) year Fellowship is a condition of employment.<\/span><\/div>\n

Fellowship Applicants<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Eligibility for the 2024 AG Fellowship Program, includes the following:<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2022 Law students who are graduating from their JD program during the academic year 2023-24.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Selected Fellows must sit for the next offered New York State bar exam after their graduation date.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Admission to the New York State Bar within the Fellow\u2019s first year is a condition of continued employment.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 The Public Officers Law requires OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States.<\/span><\/div>\n

Applications for the AG Fellowship Program consist of the following four (4) documents. Please see the descriptions for the requirements for each document at the link above.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
1) A current resume;<\/span><\/div>\n
2) A cover letter;<\/span><\/div>\n
3) A legal writing sample; and a<\/span><\/div>\n
4) A list of three (3) professional or academic references.<\/span><\/div>\n
