Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis, in collaboration with the United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the Western of Tennessee, will host a community conversation with the Honorable Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the United States Department of Justice on Mon. April 3 at 6 pm at the University of Memphis University Center, University Center Theatre<\/em>.<\/p>\n

About the Honorable Kristen Clarke<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assistant Attorney General Clarke leads the U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s broad federal civil rights and enforcement efforts to uphold all Americans’ civil and constitutional rights. This includes but is not limited to addressing hate crimes, voting rights and election law, police departments policies and practices, discrimination in employment, disability and LBGTQIA+ rights.<\/p>\n

Clarke’s career includes leadership roles at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the New York State Attorney General’s Office, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where she addressed complex civil rights challenges.<\/p>\n
