EARN PRO BONO HOURS at the American Mock Trial Association National Championship Tournament<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
Students can earn 3.5 pro bono hours for each round they judge with a max of 14 hours.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
We are also recruiting any law school professors or alumni that would be interested in judging at the tournament. We’ve had professors join us in the past and loved it!<\/div>\n
We’re asking judges to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their registered rounds but we will begin judges’ check-in 45 minutes before each round. I’ve specified the exact arrival times below.<\/span><\/div>\n
Judge Arrival Times:<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
Round 1, April 14 – arrive at 4:00 pm<\/span><\/div>\n
Round 2, April 15 – arrive at 8:30 am<\/span><\/div>\n
Round 3, April 15 – arrive at 1:30 pm<\/span><\/div>\n
Round 4, April 16 – arrive at 8:30 am<\/span><\/div>\n

On behalf of the American Mock Trial Association and Rhodes College, we are writing today to invite you to serve as a judge at AMTA’s\u00a038th National Championship Tournament\u00a0<\/i><\/b>in Memphis, TN. The National Championship Tournament (NCT) is the final round of the AMTA’s annual national tournament structure. The NCT will host the top 48 collegiate mock trial teams in the country and determine the 2023 National Champions!<\/span><\/div>\n

Where: D\u2019Army Bailey Courthouse AND Shelby County Criminal Justice Center<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

What Will I Do?<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
We need \u201cjudges\u201d and \u201cjurors\u201d for this event. We\u2019ve described these two roles below, and you do not have to have a trial lawyer background to serve as a volunteer in either role. Volunteers can serve in two capacities:<\/span><\/div>\n
Presiding Judge<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
This judge will rule on objections and preside over the trial, in addition to writing down comments and scoring the competitors.<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
Scoring Juror<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
These individuals are our \u201cjury members\u201d. These individuals will write comments and score the students, but will only speak during a brief verbal feedback session at the conclusion of the trial.<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
