<\/td>\nAs reports of hate crimes and hate-fueled incidents against Asian Americans continue to rise NAPABA and the AAPI legal community are being called upon to respond to victims and complainants. For many of these bias-driven incidents committed against some of our most vulnerable community members we as AAPI lawyers may be the first responders even before law enforcement.\u00a0This program will teach you critical skills such as how to recognize trauma, how to build trust with victims, and how to speak with hate crime victims, hate incident victims, and witnesses in a compassionate, sensitive, and culturally appropriate manner.<\/b>

The webinar will be led by two outstanding experts in their fields:\u00a0Katharine Manning<\/b>, who for over 15 years advised the U.S. Justice Department on its most challenging victim issues in cases ranging from terrorism to financial fraud to child exploitation, including the Boston Marathon bombing, Madoff scheme, the Pulse Nightclub shooting, and the federal case against U.S. Olympics Gymnastics Team doctor Larry Nassar; and\u00a0Professor Sherry Wang<\/b>, Professor of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University, where she teaches graduate courses in multicultural counseling, developmental psychology, counseling theories, and other topics. Drawing from her own bilingual and bicultural background, her scholarship is rooted in culturally sensitive research with diverse populations, and advocacy for the voices of underrepresented groups.\u00a0
