NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE CHRISTIAN SORONEN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ORAL ADVOCACY AND COURTCALL LAW SCHOOL AWARDS<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We are now accepting applications for the\u00a0<\/strong>Christian Soronen Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy<\/strong>.\u00a0The official announcement and statement of the requirements is below.\u00a0 The deadline for applications is 4:00 pm Wednesday, April 7<\/u>.\u00a0 To apply, please submit a resume and a letter (addressed to the Selection Committee) explaining your qualifications for the award and reasons the Committee should select you.\u00a0 Submit applications electronically to Director of Advocacy Barbara Kritchevsky at\u00a0<\/a>bkrtchvs@memphis.edu.\u00a0 It will be easiest for the Committee if you submit the application in a single pdf document.<\/p>\n

Christian Soronen Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy\u00a0<\/strong>was established in memory of Christian Soronen, a 2007 graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. The scholarship will be awarded to a third-year law student in good academic standing. The student must have been a member of a moot court travel team or selected to be a member of such a team during his or her third year. Third-year students who have been or will be a member of a mock trial team, alternative dispute resolution team and have competed in the Advanced Moot Court Competition are also eligible. Preference will be given to students who have excelled in inter-school and in-school competitions, members of the Moot Court Board, students enrolled in the Certificate in Advocacy program, and students who have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to the law school\u2019s advocacy program.<\/p>\n

The University of Memphis is participating in the\u00a0<\/strong>CourtCall Law School Awards p<\/strong>rogram for 2020-2021.<\/strong>\u00a0 CourtCall will present two graduating students with an award of $250 each for excellence in advocacy.\u00a0 Students who are interested in applying for the CourtCall Award should provide a statement of interest and any other supporting documentation (resume, transcript) to Director of Advocacy Barbara Kritchevsky, focusing on the following criteria:<\/p>\n

  1. Excellence in moot court and\/or mock trial competitions;<\/li>\n
  2. Outstanding service to the Moot Court Board;<\/li>\n
  3. Outstanding performance in Advocacy courses (Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Applications for the CourtCall award must be received by\u00a04:00 p.m. Wednesday,\u00a0 April 7<\/u>.<\/p>\n
