Dear fellow Cecil C. attendees,<\/p>\n

The SBA is charged with finding the graduation speaker every year and this year SBA is working to get Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of the Today Show on NBC, as this year\u2019s speaker. If you are not familiar with her, a brief bio is provided below. She is a dynamic person and can speak to the many doors that a J.D. opens.<\/p>\n

SBA needs your help to get her attention. Beginning today, we are starting a Twitter campaign to extend an invitation to her to be our speaker for this year\u2019s graduation. The campaign will go through exams and will pick up at the beginning of next semester or until we get her attention. See below for details on how to participate.<\/p>\n

Twitter Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Go to the \u201cGuthrie Board\u201d in the student lounge during study breaks or whenever you feel inspired.<\/li>\n
  2. Using post-it notes and sharpie markers write a fun\/witty\/motivational\/cool message to Savannah about why she should come to Memphis Law for graduation or why Memphis is great in general. Please keep it clean and respectful, as you are representing the whole law school.<\/li>\n
  3. Post it to the board and then take a photo or video of it and tweet it to Savannah Guthrie (@SavannahGuthrie<\/a>) using the hashtag #guthrie4graduation.<\/li>\n
  4. If you do nothing else, follow the law school and SBA on Twitter, @Memlawschool and @MemphisSBA and retweet items from Memphis Law and SBA.<\/li>\n
  5. Also follow SBA on Instragram, at @memphissba<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Before becoming the co-anchor at the Today<\/em> Show, Guthrie attended law school at Georgetown in Washington DC.\u00a0 Guthrie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown and embarked on a legal career, passing the Arizona bar with the highest score for that exam.\u00a0 During this time, Savannah crossed over from the legal world into the News World.\u00a0 She began her news career in Columbia, Missouri but quickly went back to Arizona to work at a local station there.<\/p>\n

    In 2007, Guthrie became an NBC correspondent and helped cover the 2008 presidential campaign.\u00a0 From here, she became the White House Correspondent for NBC and an NBC news anchor.\u00a0 From time to time, she would fill in for Brian Williams on the NBC Nightly News or Meredith Vieira and Anne Curry on the Today Show.\u00a0 Beginning in July 2012, Guthrie became co-anchor of the Today Show alongside Matt Lauer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
