Ms. Shapiro just completed serving three years as Assistant General Counsel of the House of Representatives.\u00a0 As of this week, she is now serving in the Office of Legal Counsel of the Department of Justice.\u00a0 Ms. Shapiro received her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 2009, where she graduated second in her class.\u00a0 After law school, she clerked for Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.\u00a0 Prior to her service at the House, Ms. Shapiro was an associate at Williams & Connolly.\u00a0 Ms. Shapiro is also a visiting fellow at the Independent Women\u2019s Forum, where she has developed a budget-neutral proposal for a federal parental leave policy that has been the model for multiple bills in Congress.\u00a0 Ms. Shapiro\u2019s commentary has been published by the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.<\/p>\n
