The information for each open\u00a0position&#8217;s assigned duties are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>Secretary\u00a0<\/b>shall:\u00a0maintain an accurate list of all HLS members; take minutes at all HLS meetings; file minutes and submit required copies to organization members; be responsible for all HLS correspondence and keep copies of all correspondence on file; and act as historian for the HLS and maintain all HLS records; At the end of his\/her term, the Secretary is responsible for passing on the entirety of HLS records to his\/her successor. If no successor is elected, the Secretary shall submit all HLS records to the incoming President.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>Director of Events\u00a0<\/b>shall:\u00a0assist the President and Vice President in the planning, preparation, and implementation of social, educational, and professional events hosted by the HLS; and perform the following duties as necessary: reserve meeting space for all HLS meetings and events on Cecil C. Humphreys campus; order food and refreshments for meetings and events on campus; and arrange for the rental of any equipment borrowed from Cecil C. Humphreys school (i.e., tables from the student lounge, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<b>1L Representative<\/b>\u00a0shall: represent the HLS among the 1L class; raise awareness of HLS activities in the first year class; announce upcoming events and all pertinent information, as informed by the officers, before classes for each section; communicate HLS events with 1L professors in classes associated with topics relevant to upcoming HLS activities; and encourage classmates to become involved with the HLS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifications for HLS Executive Board:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each HLS officer must be a currently enrolled student at Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law taking at least nine (9) hours during the regular semesters of their tenure. HLS officers must maintain good academic standing at Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law during their tenure.<\/li>\n<li>Each HLS officer must make a good faith effort to attend all HLS meetings while serving in the capacity as an officer.<\/li>\n<li>In the event an elected HLS officer is unable to fulfill his\/her term of office, there will be a \u201cSpecial Election.\u201d Any eligible member, including those already holding offices, may be nominated for a vacated officer position.<\/li>\n<li>The term of office is for\u00a0<b>1 year<\/b>, meaning the elected members will serve in this capacity until the Fall 2019 semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like to run for any of these positions, please submit a short statement of interest (no more than\u00a0<b>500 words<\/b>) via e-mail to James Roach (<a href=\"mailto:jaroach1@memphis.edu\">jaroach1@memphis.edu<\/a>) by\u00a0<b>Friday, September 21, at 5:00 p.m.<\/b>\u00a0 We anticipate that we will notify the newly elected executive board members by the following Monday.\u00a0\u00a0<b>All positions are open to\u00a0HLS members\u00a0in every class.<\/b>\u00a0 (So, 1Ls, you are not limited to only the 1L Representative position.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Health Law Society is now accepting interest statements for its open Executive Board positions.
