LEGAL AID OF ARKANSAS has SUMMER POSITIONS FOR STUDENTS.\u00a0 Legal Aid of Arkansas is a public interest, not-for-profit law firm dedicated to assuring equal access to justice in civil matters for low income Arkansans through legal representation, advocacy, community partnerships, education and outreach. Some stipends are available.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Position Summary: Legal Aid will have opportunities for law students in the spring and summer of 2018, as follows:<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u2022 Spring Break on the Road to Justice- (six positions) this year the focus will be on Fair Housing. Students will be trained to conduct fair housing tests, then do at least one test in person and one by phone.\u00a0 Commitment will be from Monday at noon until Wednesday at 3 p.m.\u00a0 Sixteen total volunteer hours required. Mileage and lodging\/per diem provided as necessary. Successful testers may be retained for future testing. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u2022 Law Student Volunteers- We are seeking volunteer law students to assist with our Domestic Violence program and specifically in helping survivors in obtaining and enforcing Order of Protections, in our Springdale and Jonesboro office. Positions available in the Spring and Summer of 2018.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u2022 AmeriCorps JD- (multiple positions) <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
o Gain first-hand experience and legal skills in areas such as client intake and interview, representation, legal education and outreach, research and writing. Complete 300 service hours to receive an education award voucher of $1,252.91.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\uf0a7 Two positions will be supporting an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps attorney working on Elder Abuse in Harrison and Springdale.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\uf0a7 Additional AmeriCorps JD applications will be considered for the summer of 2018 for the Legal Aid Offices in Newport, Harrison, Arkansas Children\u2019s Hospital in Little Rock, and Jonesboro.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Rural Summer Legal Corps- Summer Legal Corps fellow will assist with the development and implementation of the Monroe County Children in Trust pilot project, as well as continuing the work of the traditional MLP at Mid-Delta Community Health Center and perform outreach, education and client intake.\u00a0 A minimum of two times a week (50% of time), the fellow will travel to Lee, Monroe, Phillips or Saint Francis County to provide legal information and education to community partners and clients at established outreach locations, as well as to interview potential clients..\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
