VETERANS INTERNSHIP with Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS)
A new internship is available with MALS dealing with veterans’s issues. The SSVF law intern will assist project staff to provide advice, counsel and representation to Veterans in filing claims for service-connected disability and appeals before the Board of Veterans Appeals (BVA) and the Court of Veterans Appeals (CAVC). The intern will provide legal services under the direct supervision of the SSVF Managing Attorney. The SSVF law intern will work closely with the Managing Attorney to: (1) research the variety of legal issues facing Veterans, (2) draft pleadings, memos, and correspondence related to these issues, (3) assist in the analysis, preparation and filing of claims for service-connected disability, and (4) communicate with clients and prospective clients to gather facts and information about their legal issues.
